I read an article in The Telegraph yesterday and lent itself nicely to my recent articles on sustainable innovation. Although it was sponsored by Hitachi, it is well worth a read. Click here for the full article
The article summarises the traditional purposes of a corporate business is to:
1. maximise return for shareholders and investors
2. delivering excellent customer service through its products or services
It then goes on to highlight a key future business purpose which is to ensure that a company is minimising its social, environmental and ethical impact on the planet. As part of this purpose, it states that innovation must be at the heart of a company's CSR programme to ensure the business sis thinking differently about its approach and can leverage new technologies and ways of thinking.
